Burned ashy layer
Interpretation
C627 is a posthole under C616 and next to the wall (c601). it is supposed to be a round wood stick which to strengthen the wall, it is at the west side of c625 (another posthole), and at the limit of the west wall (18/07/23)
After excavated, it is a gray ashy layer with lots of charcoal, seems like there used to have burn activity in this area, suppose to do something prepare for building wall.
the Deepth of the layer is about 2~5 cm. It is similar with c625 and C628. but heavly disturbed by animals. So, there is some ammals bone in this layer. The soil is Ashley and gray, due to animals disturb there is a "S" type tune with brownish gray soil in the layer which is made by animals.
