Description

en

SU 10040 represents a fill underlying SU 10036 within the western walled structure (SUs 10043, 10044, 10045, 10046, and 10047). SU 10040 seems to have been a leveling fill or potentially a beaten earth surface to even out the cut surface of SU 10049 and pits dug into SU 10055. SU 10055 included numerous small pottery fragments, shells, and no architectural pieces, as well as a large quantity of late (large and chunky) tesserae, which may indicate the presence of a previous mosaic floor that was dismantled in one of the subsequent surface remodelings.
