Description

SU 10084 represents the red soil just west of the cut sandstone blocks 10062. 10084 was the soil that was cut for the insertion of the sandstone blocks. We excavated 10084 quickly on the final day of work, but were able to ascertain that the soil was relatively uniform with a moderate amount of cultural material. Over the course of excavating 10084, we uncovered more of the basalt boulder originally seen just north of the sandstone blocks. Under 10084 we found the natural bedrock layer 10086. The extend of 10084 that we excavated was arbitrary, and therefore 10084 likely continues further west.
