Description

SU 10006 represents a compact, sandy layer full of small plaster, ceramic, and stone inclusions. SU 10006 was differentiated from the layer above (SU 10004 which was also compact sand) by the number of inclusions. SU 10006 seems to be part of the natural accumulation processes that took place after the abandonment of the site, with wind bringing in sand to the open space and the SU 10006 compacting under the weight of what was above it. During the excavation of SU 10006, we came down on a large basalt stone, whose shape and size indicate that it may be a bedrock outcrop. However, we were not able to uncover the entire extent of this outcrop during the excavation of SU 10006.
