Description
SU 8004 represents a thin fill laying directly under topsoil SU 8001 in Area A. We decided to assign SU 8004 a new SU because the soil became more compact with fewer inclusions than the soil at the bottom of topsoil SU 8001. In the southwest corner of SU 8004, a flat rock lay against the edge of Drain 3, which runs through the middle of the full 8000 trench, separating Area A to the north and Area B to the south. In the southwest corner of SU 8004, there were more tile inclusions than in the rest of SU 8004. These tiles dove down over a large rock located in the southwest corner of SU 8004 and seemed to be a part of Su 2020, the leveling fill for the construction of Drain 3. We may next open a window into the southeast corner of SU 8004 in order to better understand the construction process for Drain 3. Note for record: no story photo was recorded for SU 8004.
