Posthole fill -Pit fill.
Hole fill from Quern stone movement
Interpretation
We believed the quern stone to be sat above a posthole, which was much darker than the surrounding deposit, having significantly less chalk inclusions. However, upon futher investergation it was reveled that the 'post hole' was simply the pervious setting of the quern, as it shared its dimentions- the quern having been disturbed and lifted out of place.
