Description
Upper part of possible ditch
Interpretation
After the wall (c806) was revealed, the possibility of a ditch on the western side needed to be explored, because of the similarity with H8-99. A dark brown surface (c807) was revealed on the east seperated from the wall by a surface of white neogene natural soil (c808). The soil of c807 that was closer to the natural soil on the west side had many white limestone inlcusions and some yellowish brown parts. Also, on the eastern side the pieces of pottery were larger. Pottery was both from Late Neolithic I & II (almost same amount), but the pieces of LNII were bigger.
When we reached 0.88m depth, we decided to change context in order to safely explore the depth of the possible ditch and due to the slight color change.
