Clay structure

Location in the investigation area

NE side of the trench

Description

C903 is a clay structure that is interpreted as an oven based on its shape and position. Also some of the CBM were burnt on the top surface melted which is probably a result of frequent fire exposure. C13 is the floor of the structure that consists of flat clay that due to the fire exposure has got the same shape and texture as slag. The existence of a foundation cut (C10) that touches the W side of the oven suggests that the oven pre-existed the house (c907). Also the placement of the "slag" like material both on the floor and on a higher level around the oven suggests that the oven suggests that the oven has two phases. The material of C913 was whitish-grey.
