Description

en SU 10014 represents the a hard, packed surface located underneath the loose soil of abandonment accumulation SU 10010 and SU 10007. In its eastern half, SU 10014 was a thin dense layer of dark brown organic material, whereas in its western half, SU 10014 was a thin, packed layer of more normal brown soil. We sampled this soil extensively throughout, especially in the area of the dense, dark brown organic layer. We continued to dig the subfloor fill as the same SU, as we did with the floors in trenches 7000 and 2000, reasoning that together they represent a single depositional event. We have currently only dug the portion of this subfloor fill in the area east of the large rock in SU 10014. Overall, SU 10014 seems to be a standard hard-packed floor surface built on a leveling fill full of smallish stones and pieces of ceramics.
