Artifacts from the 2022 excavation at Gribshunen
Due to the objectives of the campaign to document the ship's structure in situ for digital reconstruction, many of the artifacts recorded during the 2022 campaigns can be considered key elements of the ship, such as the rudder, sternpost, tiller, tiller arch, stempost, and hawse pieces. Some of these objects have been 3D documented in situ or onshore and then replaced on the seabed.
Archaeological interpretation of these objects is ongoing by the assembled group of researchers, with the addition of other scholars representing various institutions as appropriate. Extensive interdisciplinary studies of recovered artifacts are underway with specialists around the world according to needs and expertise.
