SU 8028 represents a quarrying cut into bedrock SU 8029 across Area B in its eastern half. SU 8028 is both overlain by and partially filled by SU 8017, a red layer overlying bedrock 8029 in the eastern half of Area B.
Cut SU 8028 appears to have been created at the same time as cut SU 8018, the construction trench cut for SU 8027, the large worked foundation stones for WS 41.
It has been detrmined that SU 8028 is in fact representative of a far larger cut into the bedrock for a cistern. The bedrock face to the west includes carved features that resemble the footholds and handholds in other cisterns present in the area.
