SU 8041 represents a compacted subfloor fill with a few sandstone inclusions. SU 8041 was mottled with reds and a deep brown with a more claylike texture, and there were very few cultural artifacts. SU 8041 was cut by SU 8036 for the construction of WS_44 and was cut by SU 8037 for a surface that we no longer have visible, or for a surface that was perhaps already excavated by Pesce.
We opened an arbitrary window into SU 8021 in order to better understand the stratigraphy. SU 8041 represents the first layer to underlie SU 8021 within this window.
