SU 8021 represents a compact surface located in the north-west corner of Area A. SU 8021 was cut by SU 8023, a cut running north-south through the length of Area A and continuing underneath Drain 3. After extending trench in Area A to the north west, we uncovered more of the surface that made up SU 8021, cut to the north and to the west. We excavated it first in the section to the North of the original trench edge, then expanded into the center leaving a small patch of the surface material that made up SU 8021 to the south end of the SU. There was no material culture in the surface layer but some samples of the material that made up SU 8021 was sent to the lab. SU 8021 was cut on all sides, and the north, south and eastern cuts have been excavaed and recorded separately as SU 8023, 8036, and 8037.
