SU 8016 represents an arbitrary distinction in fill SU 8012, which overlies SU 8016. This distinction was made as some mottled orange, yellow,and red material appeared in the Northwest corner. As we pulled back this was clearly a separate material that was cut just to the west of the middle of the trench. The material that comprised SU 8016 began to shift significantly to yellow sandy material after this and was full of material culture and inclusions, especially larger than fist-sized wedges of sandstone and including cut blocks. Scattered throughout the yellow sandy material were streaks colored darker by degraded charcoal and grapefruit or larger sized clumps of red clay-like material. These red clumps are clearly visible in the scarp of Area A's North Wall. Toward the bottom of SU 8016, foundation stones for WS 48 were uncovered and just beneath them we reached a soil change that lead us to close SU 8016.
