Description

en

SU 10082 represents the blocking of a doorway between wall segments 10043 and 10083. The space is predominantly filled by 4 large ~40cm sandstone blocks, with smaller pieces of sandstone between them. The doorway was initially identified by the unbroken faces of the two sides of the doorway, and the fact that the foundation courses 10081 and 10059 do not continue under the door. The blocking of the doorway seems to correspond with the later of the two floors in the building, and the plastering of both sides of the wall, covering the previous doorway. The earlier floor does not continue through the blocked doorway, indicating that perhaps a threshold stone was present and was removed.
