Description

en SU 9029 represents the quarrying cut along the west edge of Area D. Cut SU 9029 creates a face in the bedrock that serves as the foundation of WS_96. SU 9029 is made up entirely of bedrock and has visible tool marks from quarrying activity in the area. SU 9029 also has a line of discoloration from the charcoal fill found throughout SU 9021, but otherwise has the typical reddish/orange color of recently exposed bedrock. According to Eric's measurements in the field, cut SU 9029 is 6.03 Roman feet from cut SU 9030 along the eastern edge of Area D. This suggests that the overlying architecture that uses both of these cuts as a foundation course was planned prior to quarrying activity.
