Description

en

SU 10021 represents a yellow soil with large amounts of architectural material in the northern portion of Extension A and large pottery fragments to the south of Extension A. SU 10021 overlayed the previously exposed eastern and southern walls, and the southern wall was found to continue to the east, past the eastern wall. SU 10021 seems to be fill accumulated after the abandonment and destruction of the walled structure. The layer beneath also appears to be an accumulation fill, though of finer sand with numerous stone inclusions to the east (exterior) of the wall and emptier fine sand within the wall (west). The soil and ceramics are consistent with the excavation of the matching level (SU 10005) in the original trench, although SU 10021 contained much fewer plaster fragments.
