Description

en SU 10020 represents the first layer with significant material culture in Extension B under the sandy topsoil SU 10018. SU 10020 was equal to SU 10009. SU 10020 was a compact layer with moderate amounts of small, worn ceramic sherds and some shell, with very few stones throughout. Underlying SU 10020 was the hard packed clayey layer, equivalent to SU 10011 and SU 10012, which continues to slope down to the east. We were unsure if this clayey layer continued over the large stones at the eastern end of the trench, but it does seem to do so, meaning that we probably missed that patch in the original portion of the trench because of the rain the previous day and the waterlogged nature of the soil.
